low carb KFC anyone?

This is a new KFC meal that’s offered in the US, a sandwich without the bread / bun. Great marketing to target the fashion people!

Detox is done, what’s next?

My detox program was finished last week, hooray! The journey had been great, I can feel the benefits. I lost around 1.5kg, can taste food better without the need of adding artificial sauce, like Chilli sauce, Tomato sauce, Tabasco, etc.

I think detox is good if you do it twice a year, to cleanse all your vital organs and remove the toxins from your body.

I’m definitely changing my lifestyle, I won’t eat a “bad” food if I don’t really like it. For example, I’m not a fan of bread, pasta, chips, crisps  and pizza, but sometimes I just eat it because it’s there in front of me. I also chose to buy organic vegetables and fruits, when it’s available and try to avoid processed food with additives. Fresh is a better option.

Camden Market, A colourful part of London

I like markets, but not just any market. For example, I don’t like fish market or vietnamese market. Camden market is one of the many that I like. There are several markets in London, but I’ve only been to Camden so far. It’s so colourful, full of tourists, have variety of stalls from old vintage shop to hard core heavy metal shop. The food stalls are also great lots of varieties.

Kitty Cupcake

Detox day 9 – 16

I’ve been a good girl during the detox, not so much cheating. But yes, I was a bit naughty on a few occasions, like last saturday I had a couple of glasses of champagne. my naughtiness always involved alcohol.

The diet during day 9 – 16 was not much different from the previous week. It contained a lot of fish, organic chicken, organic vegetables, fresh organic vegetable juice, low-fat organic live natural yogurt, organic rice cakes, organic hummus, organic green tea, organic banana, brown rice, lemon water, egg, almonds, tofu, and soy milk.

So far, I don’t miss red meat at all, I do crave for sweet bread and asian desserts and also ice cream when I walk pass an  ice cream shop.

My cravings during detox

On the first week, my cravings were not so bad. I was so excited about the detox I didn’t really think about the food I normally eat.

The second week is a different story. I don’t know if it’s my period or not, I got it on the weekend. Yesterday my energy was low and I was a bit bloated, spinning class was not that good either. I craved for chinese pork bun all day and  some sweet asian cakes, at dinner time, I was in a bad mood and really wanted KFC bbq rods! I also craved for sweet bread.

Marinated Sea Bass Fillets

From Waitrose website. Serves 2

You will need:

4 sea bass fillets

¼ tsp ground coriander
¼ tsp ground cumin
¼ tsp hot chilli powder
2.5cm fresh root ginger, peeled and finely grated
1 tbsp clear honey
Juice of ½ lemon
2 tbsp olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

  1. Rinse and dry the fillets. Place the marinade ingredients into a shallow dish and mix together, then add the fillets and spoon the marinade over. Leave in the fridge for at least 30 minutes, covered, rubbing the marinade into the fillets once.
  2. Preheat the oven to 220°C, gas mark 7. Line a roasting tin with enough foil to make a generous envelope. Grease the foil with a little olive oil, add the sea bass fillets and any remaining marinade. Fold over the edges of the foil to create a puffed-up, sealed envelope and bake the fish for 10 minutes or until the flesh is firm. Remove from the oven and leave to rest for a further 3 minutes.
  3. Remove the fish from the foil and place on warmed serving plates. Pour over any cooking juices. Season and serve with steamed organic greens, e.g. asparagus, green beans.
